When investigating which exhausts give decent gains, are good quality, and look and sound good - two names kept popping up - Supersprint & Eisenmann. I'd never actually heard of Eisenmann until recently, but knew plenty about Supersprint. Being hand built, the Eisenmann was slightly more expensive than the Supersprint, so it was only after months of not so gentle persuasion that I decided on getting the Eisenmann.

After getting in contact with Roy at Eisenmann.co.uk, we decided to run an group buy through the forums. A 20% discount was on offer for a purchase of 4 exhausts, so as soon as four of us with more money than sense decided on what we wanted, the order went in.

The exhausts were all built and delivered in the space of one week, which was an exceptional turn around, and its the sort of service that ensures Roy has a loyal customer base.

Its all well and good having four shiny new exhausts sitting in your garage - but all the better to have them fitted on your car. While one of the exhaust ordered was a bolt-on (Dave's Supersprint exhaust for his M3), the E46 exhaust needs to be cut, so we needed to have someone competent to fit them. Having briefly thought about trying it myself (not really), Al and Gary at AC Car Sales came to the rescue.

It was decided to make a day of it - so we all arrived by 9:30 or so on a rather fresh Saturday morning. First up, i.e. the guinea pig, was Richie and his 323ci. I think its fair to say that Richie was initially surprised by the size of the tailpipes on his exhaust. We'd definitely ordered 76mm round pipes, but they looked more like 80mm when the exhaust was off the car. Comparing them to the 76mm Supersprint pipes showed them to be the same size - the inwardly rolled pipe on the Supersprint are quite deceptive in that they make the pipes look slightly smaller than they actually are.
