Saturday 19th November  Exhaust Fitting

Mine seemed to take only minutes to fit, the old exhaust came off very easily - the new one went on very easily. As well as going for the Sports version, I went for twin 70mm pipes. This meant there was no need to cut the valance on the bumper to get it to fit. The car was lowered, and it was my turn to see how my new exhaust sounded.

To be perfectly honest, I was a bit alarmed at how loud it sounded at first. I drove around the block, and it still sounded too loud. It was only about a day later that it settled down to a noise I was completely happy with. It's more than likely that I'm so used to the near silence of my car that I was like that, but its a delight every time I switch the engine on now.

Martin Duffy and his 325ci were the last up. The job was hindering slightly by the cutting disc snapping. After an hour or so, a new one was sourced and work began. Martin's car took slightly longer as it has twin pipes going into the back box, but Al & Gary had it sorted out quickly.

Martin went for the same system as Richie - Racing version with twin 76mm pipes. As with Richie's, it sounded fantastic. I think its fair to say everyone was happy with the new exhausts - there aren't many things you can do with a car that make it look better, sound better and improve performance, but maybe these exhaust are the exception to the rule. I decided to get my car rolling roaded and saw a gain of almost exactly 6BHP - a huge amount from a back box alone.

Any of our esteemed group of spectators - Les, Graham and Kin seemed keen on getting their hands on an Eisenmann exhaust, and as such, we've set up another group buy - check the sticky topic in the forums.

Lastly - a huge thanks to Al & Gary at AC Car Sales (www.accarsales.com) and to Roy at Eisenmann.co.uk / CA Automotive (www.eisenmann.co.uk / www.ca-automotive.co.uk)
