Basically bought it with no history, NCT'd until March 2012, so suspension etc. should be grand on it for another while - havn't noticed any problems so far today anyway.

I want a bit of piece of mind so what would you service on it if you just bought it? Just hit 126,000 miles as I drove it home from the garage. Got hold of the bentley manual from here (thanks!) so plan to do everything myself on it now - any suggestions?

Apart from oil, filters and plugs what else would you consider important to have replaced or checked? Last car was an 04 Accord diesel, 2.2litre so hefty on tax. Decided to sell it and downgrade!

Before the accord I had an e30 320i 4 door, black and missed it every day after I sold it so I came back to BMW!

Though only looking for a cheap run around I intend to keep it clean and upgrade bits and pieces over time like a proper owner should :)

We now have a challenge for the bmw-driver.net people.

I will have approx €6 to spend on a car in November (after the wedding) so give me some ideas folks. Anything considered even Jap scrap but the catch is the €6k must inc 1yrs road tax.

Already i'm considering an E36 M3 or a Mitsi Evo IV (due to UJM3 putting that idea in my head :D )

However, the service manager in a main BMW dealership says that it is absolutely detectable via the ECU counter. MacNamaras (the Irish agents for Bluefin) tell me it is not detectable, as returning the remap to stock cancels any counting of remaps. Who is right?
