Quite an eventful race, lucky there wasn't any of the crashers injured. Massa looked to be in a bit of bother with the collar being put on but I guess it was just a precaution. Good to the mercs winning on a Sunday (that 'test' must have helped)
Grosjean used up yet another one of his last chances and has been handed a 10 place grid penalty for Canada.
Perez was like a man on a mission out there!!
Roll on Canada.
Here's the video of Schumacher meandering around the ring last week:
Yes he had balls to try do what he was doing but he was just silly. The alonso move was hit and miss but what else could he has done ? Then Perez does it again and then again on Kimi and ruined his points. It boiled my blooded.
Setanta made a balls of it for any plus'ing it. The race itself was a disgrace, more so an embarassing procession. Any joe soap fan who spent big money to go see it, would not have been impressed with the F1 race, maybe the support races.
Lap 26 for the 1st 'move' in this case an overtake by di Resta. Raikkonen right at the end was doing what he should've been doing when in the pack further up the field.
Anyway, it was Monaco, the glitz and glamour outshines everything else and being honest, I never expect much over taking given the track layout - roll on Canada.
Was at the 2011 Race there. And it wasn't much different! 4-5 safety cars and a red flag in the seventy somethingth lap. From an overtaking perspective it was obviously pretty disappointing. But from an action/drama/atmosphere perspective it was amazing. I'll definitely go back to Monaco. I find it a bit underwhelming when watched on TV to be honest.
Edit: Fully agree on the Raikkonnen thing. Majorly disappointed for him.
Looks like Hamilton is finished!!. If Schumacher had been beaten to pole 3 times in a row last year everyone would be saying he should quit. Haven't heard anyone say it about Hamilton. :confused2:
Or maybe we're now appreciating just how good Rosberg can be. A lot put his qualifying record against Schumacher over the last few seasons down to the thought that Schumacher was gone past it. Now is his time to shine IMO. Chatter about the last few weeks about Kimi going to Red Bull next year, I'd love to see what Rosberg could do there alongside Vettel.
Canadian GP was a bit of a precession out front for Vettel but the battle for the places was pretty good. I wonder can anyone come any way close to Red Bull for the title(s) barring a few DNF's for Vettel?
Jeez EJ is as annoying as fuck on the podium!!
Unfortunately a marshall got killed yesterday during the Grand Prix of Canada.
We were unfortunately once again remebered of the dangers that are always lurking for our brave volunteers on the side of the track.
When clearing the track by towing Guttierez' car with a portable crane the marshall tripped over. The driver of the big machine had not see him fall and accidentaly drove over him. The marshall was quickly sent to the hospital but died there overnight due to his injuries. We should remember him and the other marshalls, today. The men on the side of the track who are just as brave as our guys racing on the track.
May he rest in peace.
I was thinking that today when you posted. I also feel sorry for the guy driving. He was prob concentrating so hard not to damage the saber he didn't notice the guy fall.
Mercedes have gained by having the test that no other team have had the opportunity of. This was blatant in tyre performance on track since. Preventing them from the young driver test is little price to pay for the 'gain' in the championship race IMO.
Not sure if they have made any significant gain in tyre performance, Monaco and Montreal weren't tracks that were hard on tyres with the compounds Pirelli brought to those races. Silverstone will probably be a better indication. If Lewis goes on to win next Sunday, I will have been proven wrong!
They couldn't not have learned something from 1000km of testing though so the young driver test ban was the easiest way to balance it out. Mercedes test driver Sam Bird obviously has lost most from all of this rather unfairly.
Doesn't seem like Pirelli learnt much from their tire test
Was one of the better races this year, topped off with the last 8 or so laps having the best racing, bar none, so far this year. Just an example of what it can be like if they're not starting from tire wear and working the way up.
Another few DNF's from Vettel and I'll be happy.
The tyres do give the race another edge. However its come to the stage imo where you can tell who will suffer in the last few laps and lose places. Eg. Kimi.
If they didn't have to worry about tyres would the push it all the time? I suppose fuel may then become the issue.
However I am getting annoyed with the tyres. Might as well sit out of quali, keep your tyres and win the race on fresh rubber.
Great race, everything got nicely mixed up which made for some great overtakes and diceing.
Hey vettel! karma's a bitch
