That's actually a tyre size you've posted - not a wheel size. Do you have any more information about the wheels (width, offset etc.)? Are they staggered?

OK, well comparing that wheel/tyre size all round to OEM spec 18" wheels/tyres (staggered M-Parallels), they're within 1% of the original diameter which is fine. Usually the E39 has a slightly wider rear wheel/tyre to aid with traction (245/255) but a 225 would be OK too.

I'm sure if they're advertised for an E39, that they're the suitable offset (~ET20), width (~9") and centre bore (74.1mm), so it's probably nothing to worry about.
