Hi guys,

Looking for a little help.

I need a new ABS pump for my car but not sure what the part number i need is.
I rang a few breakers but they all need to know the exact part number.
Is there any easy way to check?

Its a 2001 E46 318CI 1.9L.

Thanks!

What's your chassis number? (last 7)
Also, I'm assuming you have ASC not DSC?
Why do you think you need the pump??

Also, part numbers on the secondhand units can be very misleading...

Last 7 digits are JP71005 (number on passenger side of the windscreen)

Problem started about a month ago. Both abs light and traction control light on all the time in the car. Got it looked at in kearys bmw and was told it was the pump, so had a local mechanic have a look and he said the pump was gone too.

I know it can be a bit hard to get the part numbers right, i really have no idea where to begin with it!

Thanks for the help so far.
As for ASC or DSC Is there a way to tell which one i have? I'd presume ASC but not sure to be honest! at the moment i have NSC (NO STABILITY CONTROL)!!!!

looks exactly the same, might be from an earlier e46, the one I found for you is the one that matches your vin number, try an irish breakers where you can match the parts side by side, ill check the part number and see

I'd say the part number your man on e bay put in is wrong, no such part number found according to realoem, contact him and ask to clarify part number

When the Pump Motor fault is present - 95% of the time it's the relay controlling it that is wrong. In ASC models this is incorporated in ECU/Control Unit.

In your case you most likely need the ASC Repair Kit; 34 51 6 756 289.

1. These are basically the same on any E46 98-01 that doesn't have DSC.

2. A secondhand unit can be fitted & recoded to car if necessary

3. The part numbers physically written on the units are often not in ETK (even in supercession string). The best way to check is to use chassis number of donor car to ensure they are the same. Also, there is only 1 electrical plug (later ones have 2)

Kind Regards,
Eddie.

Much appreciated, thanks for all the advice. I'll be hoping to get this part this week so this info is really helpful.

Have u had a diagnostic done to confirm it is the pump and not something simple like a wheel speed sensor?
I had the lads a kearys have a quick look, i can only assume they plugged it in but i cant say for sure they did. But on the report i got back they said the pump was broken.
