Following a number of threads, most recently this one: http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/showthread.php?p=511334 decided to throw up the opportunity of a group buy for one of these.

Anyone interested? If there are 10 genuine names I'll go ask around and see what we can pick them up for.

Current one on eBay: http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=65120153501+&_fvi=1

Non Sat-Nav one part number:65 12 0 153 501 / Sat-Nav one part number:65 12 0 153 503

And a DIY of the install (pretty straight forward): http://www.my330i.com/mod26.php

Not trying to burn the group buy but you can make that up very easily and much cheaper than that price. I understand some people would rather just buy something they don't have to mess with though.
Now there is a little venture for you

RebelRanter plugged my car in before and there was an option to turn the aux function on and off on the program. He switched it on in my car but the radio didn't seem to have an aux function. I'm presuming now that the radio is pre 2003 so it doesn't have an aux function. It could be something like that!

On mine the aux function was only activated when I plugged the aux cable into the back of the radio.

I tried that aswell but no joy :(

I think the tape deck part is too old.
I thought it was only the CD head units that the AUX can become activated on.

The tape deck units only use CD changers for the AUX mode. These CD changers can however be swapped over to use an iPod instead.

Yea pretty sure my old tape deck didn't have the rear connection. Although, I read somewhere that if the deck has the 'mode' button then AUX is compatable..
