Just a reminder that on all E6x/e9x cars the wear sensor has to be replaced with the pads. The sensor is a 2 stage sensor so the sensor will be "half worn" before the pads are fully worn out, if that makes sense. In the e36/e46/e39 you could salvage te sensor if you got to changing te pads just in time.

I don't see why a spurious one wouldn;t work if it was designed for the e6x models.

Good to know, did the pads on my friends E90, glad I changed the sensor!
