Hey lads,

Looking to find a BMW engine specialist based in Dublin/surrounding areas.
Have a fairly common problem with a handful of probable causes:
- white/blue smoke on start-up. Its a 07 320d with 108,000miles on the clock. Owned the car from new and oil changed every 8k without fail.

It could be anything from:
- turbo oil seal
- valve seals
- injector(s)
- glowplug(s)/glowplug module
- ERG/swirl-flap(s)

It has only been a problem for the past 4-5 weeks.
Was much more noticeable on the colder mornings and when the weather temps got up last week for a few days it was gone. But today was the first day I noticed it smoking after work when it was roughly 6-7 degrees and only sitting idle for 5 hours or so.
I took it to the lads in CMC Limerick to give it a quick look over and had all the codes checked and theres nothing showing any problems on the ECU.
He wants to bring it back in to go through it step by step to source the problem but I don't really know much about their abilities. Plus they're not really the greatest value. (charged 69quid for a diagnostic which took a grand total of 2 minutes knowing there was a good chance I'd be back for more work).

So, any advise would be very welcome.

Tim

Valdas (member on here) at motor confidence should be able to help.

70 quid for just diagnostics with nothing showing up or even clearin anything is abit saucy even if your back for more work or not in my opinion.

Ya I thought it was a bit cheeky alright.
But to be fair he seemed to know what he was doing even if he was more interested in getting me out to way (despite that I'd booked in).

Cheers for the tip Dave.

Took the car to Valdas. Lovely lad who really seems to know his stuff.
Thankfully it seems the problem is just a knackered DPF.
He's great value in fairness too.
