Greetings,

I recently bought my first ever automobile, and it happens to be a BMW 316i. Well, as it tends to be with used everything, the issues start appearing only a few days after everything is done, and dealt with regarding purchase.
I'm not very savvy with cars myself, but, luckily, I have a friend who has enough knowledge to tell me what's wrong, and what shouldn't stay wrong for much longer.
Today being the first sunlit day in a while we opened the machine p a bit, and even I, with my rookie eyes, could see the abuse this car has suffered.
But, basically, to cut it short (for now), to start off I have to swap out the door cards, and driver side mirror.
The biggest problem, though, is loud noise coming from one of the rear wheels, or from the diff. Going to visit a mechanic tonight to make sure.
Still, would like to get a quote, if anyone has any of the parts listed above.

Regarding the mirror, here is a picture of the car for color reference, but that's no so important. It's probably after market red, so I would go for two black ones for either side. http://puu.sh/6W6q

I'm in Midleton, Co. Cork, but visit Cork city quite often.

Hey, Welcome and congrats with that car, I don't have any of the parts listed but as for the noise coming from the back wheel it could be a wheel bearing, if the machanic diagnoses this I have one here cost 35 you can have it for 25.. I bought 2 and only need one!

Whats the noise sound like?

I don't think it's an aftermarket colour, looks like sienna red but there should be a black label with the colour and colour code on one of the front suspension turrets - if you open the bonnet, you should be able to see it.

Depending on what damage's done, you may be able to swap the colour panel from your own mirror over to a donor.

Noise from the back is probably a wheel bearing. The wheel bearing isn't expensive but the labour may be if your mechanic doesn't have the tools to remove and refit a new bearing.

Thank you for your reply. There's a label on th engine noting "BMW-Sienarot-Metallic," so you're absolutely right.

The driver side mirror has taken a beating, and it doesn't seem like any part of it is transferable.

The mechanic confirmed, that it is, indeed, the wheel bearing, and I'll have it replaced tomorrow.

Lucky guess, I guess!

If you want to chance spraying the cover yourself, you can get an aerosol made up in Halfords to match - costs between €20/30 for one and should be a decent match. Just make sure you've the full paint code (something like "289" or "289/3") for them as that's how they get the ingredients.

Try the likes of Ben O Brien for door cards, he's only up in Limerick and is pretty decent to deal with.
