I have the standard nav head unit with the MK4 nav. I have never upgraded it to be able to connect an iPod which I would like to do as simply as possible. Simple cable to head unit would suffice, but charging would be great aswell.

Also, since the analog service was turned off I miss my TV, what are my options to get digital TV on the OEM unit.

Advice appreciated.

In the UK and most of the rest of Europe the OEM BMW hybrid units give you digital tv but these dont work in Ireland (cost around £400 second hand).

Instead a lot of guys in the UK have gone the cheaper route and got their BM54 unit upgraded for digital tv and it gives them all the freeview channels (the only downside is that you loose the option to change channel on oem unit - instead you have a simple red-eye connection and remote control). Might need a bit of tweaking for saorview but I'm sure it could be done. You can also get aftermarket attenas for better tv reception.

While you're at it you can also other upgrades to your BM54 like upgraded amps, get extra AUX in, iPod connection/charger, Bluetooth music streaming, extra video inputs in/out.

I enquired before myself, I'll root out some of the costs for you.

I've enquired the same for the e65 and its a lot harder to do ,but reguarding the tuner mod u just have to make sure the digital tuner used to mod the bm54 or other tuner is capable of the saorview frequencys and I found a cheap one on ebay that is for less than 100 but as above it requires the use of red eye

Thanks. I miss the TV it was a cool option to have and im interested in it. In relation to the ipod. Is there an easy way to connect it to the head unit say via glove box? An I presume this does not allow charging. I have never been able to establish what cable I need?
