well, collecting my e30 318i this week, and was just wondering what kind of money would I be looking at to get a complete E30 325i? I wouldnt mind paying extra for a sport, but an SE or a touring would do rightly. As long as running gear was good the shell and chassis could be completely rotten.

Would you not go m50 instead of the m20, pretty harmless in fareness
i heard the m50 is a good bit of extra work compared to an m20 to fit?

Go with an M52 instead of an M50 if you are gonna go this route. It's the same amount of work but you can get the M52 up in power a lot easier.

Even with the M5x being a bit more work to put into an E30 I'm delighted that I did it. Having driven both the M20 doesn't hold a candle to the M52.
