I spotted this over on bmwtips.com & thought people might be interested in it. It gives the meaning of each section of the VIN or chassis number.

Nice to know that my:
- e36 was manufactured in Regensburg
- e39 was manufactured in Munich

Very nice and meaningful information, It will help everyone to know about the details of every part of the vehicle. After performing a BMW VIN check, you can also obtain the complete report, which includes the following information: The vehicle's theft history, unreported damage, historical photos, the vehicle's mileage accuracy, maintenance requirements, safety recalls, and other useful information are all included. Before making a payment, vehicle buyers and sellers can use the online service known as the BMW VIN decoder to check the history of a used vehicle to avoid purchasing a damaged or stolen vehicle. This is very straightforward and simple to use. The free version can also be viewed. It is truly amazing. You can visit this website to give it a shot.
