Long-time listener first time caller! Im looking to upgrade to a 2007 3 series in the next few weeks. Either 320i / 320d / 318i / 318d. Im looking at an SE model, normal upholstry, no particular extras.
Ive been looking around for some time now. With quite good euro-sterling value at the moment Im considering importing from NI through a main dealer. In RoI the cars seem to range from about €22,000 - €25,000. Up north theres a few Ive looked at for around £14,500 - £16,000.
Im just looking for some advice on approximately how much extra will I have to pay on e.g. VRT / VAT / other costs. Ive found it very hard to get an answer.
Ive tried the VRT calculator on revenue.ie online but this obviously needs the statistical code of the car.
My main Qs are:
1) Roughly how much VRT would I be likely to pay on the above (I realise there might be slight differences)
2) Do I have to pay VAT on the car? Ive heard that you dont need to pay if the car is older than 6 months or less than 6,000 miles but not entirely sure.
3) Anyone have any advice on whether its a good / bad idea
Has anyone on this site bought something similar in from NI? How much has it cost you?
