Over the past few weeks there has been a bit of debate about whats the best snow foam, and today I managed to get the chance to use Autobrite Magifoam.
The current foam I use is Meguiars HyperWash.
This is my opinion - others will vary!
So here we go.....
Car had been fully detailed (Petes 53 protection) prior to Blarney (2 weeks ago), but hadnt been washed since- not overly dirty; had been driven on dry and wet roads, good few miles include the return leg from Cork - mainly dusty and water spots with dust (bit of the ash from the volcano Im guessing).
Car had be sitting pretty much in the shade for 30-40mins
I put a fair bit of Magifoam into the bottle of the lance, maybe 2" at the bottom as per instructions and fill the rest with water.
Spray through the lance directly onto a dry car
Left to dwell - went inside to fill the 2 buckets
After 2/3 minutes I came back to have a look and the solution was clinging well.
After 7/8 minutes I came back and the solution was still clinging to the car, but it seemed to have dried out (car in the shade)
Rinsed the car off with the power washer, giving the car a good rinse, trying to cover all the car with direct spray contact.
Inspected - car for the most part was very clean
Washed using the 2BM
Dried
How did it perform??...
Is it a good snow foam??
Yes, it sticks to the car well, longer dwelling time than the Hyperwash
Did it perform better than the Hyperwash?
Hard to say as the car wasnt heavily soiled - performed as well as I would have expected the Hyperwash to, but the car was recently waxed so this would help cleaning
Would I consider it a No Touch Wash?
While the rinse bucket was reasonably clean, the water was still very discoloured and there was a small amount of dirty at the bottom of the bucket. The paintwork appeared very clean, but I found a few places where the power washer direct spray missed and it was still dirty in these patches. Which you're never going to get 100%.....
.....so as a No Touch Wash - absolutely not!!
But if you were in a rush to spruce up the car, and NOT planning to dry it, clay it, etc, then yes, it would do a decent job.
Does is strip protection?
Too early to say...though I will use it a few more times and see how I get on and report back! The instrucitons "say" it wont though!
Conclusions.....
Overall a good product....so far (need to use it more)
Worked well on a lightly soiled car...remains to see how it will perform on a heavier soiled car! Reckon, but again remains to be proven, it would be a very handy product for using during the winter, to get some of the crud off the car, when you are in a rush to give it a rinse because you dont want to be in the cold too long.
Definately dwells longer than Hyperwash, but then Hyperwash doubles up as a shampoo for the 2BM; instructions on the Magifoam say best used from a lance and no mention of shampoo.
Dilution ratios.....Magifoam 100:1, Hyperwash 400:1
So far so good...will definately give it a few more goes to see how it works out!
And Ill report back any other findings!
If you have any questions, fire away, Ill do my best to answer them!
