In last few weeks I've noticed that my car is taking a lot of fuel. Before was around 13l/100km but now is 16l/100km. driving mostly in city centre.
before for 25e was doing 100miles easily and now not even 60miles.

Yesterday was looking on rev counter when car was warm and I think is slightly higher than always was.
And I have feeling that car lost some power.
No light on dashboard.
Could be camshaft sensor?
or o2 sensor?
or coolant temperature sensor?

just want some opinion before start changing all the bits.

I did oil service already, changed from induction kit for standard airbox with K&N filter. still the same.

any ideas?

Cam sensor would be my guess, based on experience of the M52, but a read of the diags would be useful to confirm.

more than likely just the case as engines will take longer to warm up hence using more fuel.
On cold start up, idle is usually alittle higher too.

Best to get it checked too though just in case there is a problem with a cam sensor or something.

Do you notice it burning any oil?

This is not because cold weather. started already before .even was warm.
i.ve checked few times oil level is perfect. doesnt use oil at all. but the cam sensor will faulty this will give me rough idling? mine is very steady. hope will find somebody to connect to some diagnostic in this week.

for 25e 100miles???? when it was??? 3 ,4 years back? :D so now its nearly double.what shoes your OBC? first thing i would check - lambda, and diagnostics ,and as mentioned cold weather makes so sense
Would if he's doing lots of short trips especially but it probably wouldn't be noticable enough to think something is wrong I suppose

And yeah... I'd be happy with even 60 miles to 25 euro if its city driving :p

I don't have OBC Valdas
for 25e u have nearly 17litres of petrol,
my car never used that much, usually 13litres per 100km, not nearly 17litres.
and I felt some looses in power, so defo something is not right.

I don't blame weather coz this just happened in last 5-6 weeks ( so wasn't that cold) and last year in winter was ok.

I think that could be lambda sensor, loss of power, higher consumpstion .

Anybody with diagnostic tool available this week? near Dublin?

So, I've checked with diagnostics - no faults at all.
I've checked emissions - all great . oxygen sensors - all fine no problems.

So I think that must be the weather now.

cheers.

Obvious I know - but have you checked for fuel leaks (around the tank and rear lines) - it would evaporate fairly quickly so wouldn't be very evident on the ground ?

More than likely a smell in the cabin if you did though.
