E60 - Engine oil level too high

Hi all.
I was going through i drive yesterday and spotted this in the service section.Car say it has 3000 more to go for oil change and service similar to go (1st check up) only 25008km on clock .any idea before i bring to stealer.checked dip stick and seems to be a bit above max but could be catching of pipe going through to get reading.dont know how long its been on but would not think to long as i am always flicking through checking things.:eek: :eek:

It's prob 25,000km Not miles which is right for service interval on modern diesels and while overfilling is potentially serious if it's just over the max it's nothing to worry about

You should take a look at the oil when it comes out of a diesel engine after that amount of km's. Looks and flows just like tarr. Even after 10k miles it's realy mankey looking but at least it still flows sort of. Ever wondered why the turbos etc go bang on them? But by all means keep to what BMW tells you keeps us in business :rolleyes:

I would always recomend an intermittend oil change at about 10k miles. It's money well spend. On the e60 I worked on the last tiime the counter didn't count down with the traveled mileage either so I reckon you do even more miles before you change then the 19k indicated at reset.

I change my oil every 8000 miles despite service interval being twice that just making the point that it's not unusual to see that much of a gap in service history , almost no one that's not into cars will ever change their oil outside of defined service intervals , no matter what you tell them:rolleyes:
