Just walked out to the car this morning to find the majority of the paintwork peeling off it. :( Looks like someone went to town with paint stripper or something else. I'm completely gutted.:(

Don't know yet, stll waiting for the Gardai to show up and see if anyone else reported something. Have absolutely no idea who could have done it. Only thing that stands out in my head is that a few kids tried stealing the valve caps from it about 3 weeks ago and I saw them and let a roar out of the window but I doubt they would do this?

Management company are reviewing the cctv footage in the estate. It must have happened last nite because I noticed the wipers slightly sticking to the bottom of the windscreen last nite when I went out to the petrol station, but I didn't notice any damage to paint work, must have been slow acting stuff.

Don't know what the story is with insurance, have fully comp with no claims protection so we'll see what they say.

That is absolutely horrible, what sort of sick bastard would do something as malicious as that.

Keith, do you live in Dublin 18? Reason I ask is that there is also a black E46 with M3 wheels that I often see around the Cabinteely area, just wondering if it's yours?

Anyway, best of luck getting the problem sorted.

Keith, that's terrrible, f**king scumbags!

Probably used brake fluid as it's slow reacting and won't do anything until a few hours go by!

If your fully comp your insurance should cover it as it's classed as vandalism

@ RPG - No, I live in the Park West area.

@ HealyC - I wonder how long brake fluid takes to react, wonder could it have happened Fri night? I was at a friends house that night in Blanchardstown and remember a guy in an a3 nearly hitting my car on a mini roundabout in coolmine. It stands out in my mind as I remember him then being behind me in a left hand turn lane but when I signaled right he immediately changed to my lane and followed me until I turned into my friends estate at which point he overtook me and sped off. Maybe being paranoid though.

Gardai have just been up and think its a personal attack as they haven't heard of this happening in the area but I can't think of anyone.

I think its a very cowardly thing to do if you have a beef with somebody...

Fucking assholes. It's jealousy.

Before I got my BMW, I had a Megane parked out the front of my house for 3 years. Not once did it get vandalised. I got my car on a Thursday and by Sunday morning I saw it had been keyed TWICE from the drivers side.

This sort of stuff has to stop. The Garda don't do SHIT.

Thanks guys. Does anyone know how much this would cost to repair? I'm guessing a proper job would cost about the 3k-4k area? Will insurance even pay out or will they write it off? Anyone have any experience of this? Not sure whether to wash down the car or to leave it until the insurance rep comes out.

Unbelieveable! I hope you're able to get it sorted with insurance.

Speaking of which, it might be a good idea to leave things as they are until the adjuster gets a look at the car. Last thing you want is for them to find an excuse to not cover you or not pay you enough.

Also, I hate to state the obvious but what happens after you get it fixed? If this happened to me, I'd always worry about the same thing happening again unless the vandals are caught or I move to a safer neighborhood. Your peace of mind is something the insurance company won't be able to fix.

Again, I hate having to mention this and make you worry even more but that is the reality of the matter. When this happened to me (when I was living in a Washington, DC suburb) many years ago, I actually moved a few months later because of this very reason.

What goes around comes around. These criminals will come to realize that karma is indeed a bitch.
