Hi,

There seems to be a knocking noise coming from the when I have the heater on in the car. It's intermittent, however there is now a gurgling noise as well. It's like there is water slushing about. Anybody got any ideas what this could be??

I have the manual heating controls.

I get this on my e46 it's a 04. I just put it down to the air con

Apologies, its a 02 E46.

 

Could be water in the airbox of the heating/aircon system. Do you use hot water to defrost the car in th morning? Or maybe the drainage holes on the condenser unit froze causing water to accumulate in it? Seing that you are not the only member with such issue I would keep an eye on it but don't worry too much at the moment.

 

Yeah I have been using water to clear the windscreen recently, however the knocking noise has been there about 3 months or so now.

 

I had a similar problem and research led me to believe that the air con gas was low. I had it topped up and the noise stopped.

As a check, turn off the compressor and the noise should stop.
