After been in bmw they mentioned another manifold sensor which might be bad.

And they don't know what a map is and don't have it on there drawings:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I will be, but I was in with BMW today for prices and they couldnt find to unit. I have pictures of it here. They said they never seen it there before and its not in there diagrams so need to go back tomorrow. I took it out, cleaned the bit of dirt off the top and it changed nothing, still struggling to go over 4k rpm, so I unpluged it and revved. Went to 3500rpm???? pluged it back in and it didnt change. Then to its own accord jumped to 4k and then struggled to reach it when I tried again so it must be faulty. If I can try one this weekend and it solves the problem then I'm sorted.

Here is the unit below

did a bit of digging, the item that you have in your hand seems to be your MAP. Its not the same on the e39, different part numbers for the m57 and m57n's. Yours is 13617787142, which is listed specifically for the 330cd and not the 330d.

The one from the e39 is 13622246977 which is listed for the e39 and e46 330d but not the 330cd. I wonder what the difference is.
